This is the result of hours of driving around Iceland, filming in biting cold, struggling against elves & spirits in search of some decent waves to surf.

It is one of the first motion projects I am actually satisfied about. Chasing swell in Iceland requires patience and a lot of investment – physical, as well as financial and personal. Handling both photography (see here) & video during this trip was setting the bar even higher; I feared this project would never materialize, but in the end we came up with just enough surfing to bring this out.

It is hard to describe the feelings created by such a change of scenery. Iceland’s untouched nature and its powerful, unreal landscapes provide total escapism and a real fascination. Day after day, while on the road searching for waves, the misty and cold atmosphere created an invitation for us to move to another world, fuelling our imagination with tales and legends where each rock generates a new mystical dimension.

That is precisely the atmosphere that I tried to re-create in this video.

Notes from Lee-Ann Curren :
« After visiting on a regular basis for the past 5 years, Iceland has become almost like a second home to me. I’m not sure what attracts me so much about this place. Maybe the immensity of the landscapes that make you feel so vulnerable, yet very much alive, and leave you in a permanent state of awe and contemplation.I think this video describes perfectly what it feels like to be out there. Special thanks to Roxy for supporting us, Samaris for the beautiful music, and our local friends Ingo, Heidar, Elli, Steinar, Mother Earth, Betty, Hlynur, just to name a few, for making each trip to Iceland a new magical adventure. »

Along with Lee-Ann Curren, we travelled like that for a few days, weeks, carried by winds and swell, on the hunt for waves that would allow us to bring back unique memories of this extraordinary region. Watch below.
