Mathieu Chavaren is a French artist based in the Basque Country, educated at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Biarritz. When travel became difficult during the COVID‑19 pandemic, Boa Lab in Lisbon (a cultural multiverse gallery and immersive events space support both emerging and established artists through residencies and exhibitions) commissioned a documentary film to explore and share his artistic world. 

In his studio, Mathieu Chavaren explains his artistic process, his interrogations, and how his rural surroundings influenced his work during this unique period. The film offers viewers an intimate insight into his creative universe, inviting reflection on his concepts of space, materiality, and the transitional gestures at the heart of his practice.
